ELS FOR AUTISM | SOUTH AFRICA NEWSLETTER – AUGUST 2020
1. Marking Mandela Day at Els for Autism
Since Els for Autism South Africa opened its doors in 2011, we have primarily offered face-to-face services for families that have a child on the autism spectrum. Over the years, we have been fortunate to open a satellite office in Cape Town, as well as offer distance (virtual) support services to families in harder-to-reach areas. However, this year has been entirely different – and that has forced everyone to think differently and find new ways to continue delivering our services and ensure we support our families.
“What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others.” – Nelson Mandela
2. Els For Autism South Africa Golf Series
Despite South Africa still being in national lockdown, the new regulations thankfully now allow for golf courses to re-open and operate. Thus, the planning for the Els for Autism Series 2020 is currently being altered to abide by the rules laid out, ensuring that all safety measures are maintained, as well as embracing technology and perhaps including more virtual elements than we would have initially planned.
3. Running for Els for Autism South Africa
On the morning of 11 January, during the BMW SA Open hosted by the City of Ekurhuleni, we were fortunate to have the twin virtues of glitz and giving in the spotlight at Liezl Els’ (pictured) third annual Hats & Heels Champagne Breakfast.
